I've read that WD40 can get past the O-rings and dissolve the lubrication inside, and kerosene is therecommended way to go. Find a sprayer and you can use it the same was as spraying on WD40.
if wd40 can slip past wouldnt kero?

Good question, but apparently not ... something about WD40 being a "penetrating" oil.

The article was from an aircraft mechanic who was quoting an apparently well known article about how WD40 caused premature bearing failure in an aircraft engine.

Chain cleaning is just another one of those "holy war" topics (e.g. break-in methods, mineral vs. synthetic oil, exhaust systems, etc.) ... and the only conclusion I've reached on any of those topics is that if you care enough to argue about it, no matter what your position, your bike is better off because of it.

I guess since I introduced the kerosene I should have added that I got rid of the O-Ring Chain when I added the 45 tooth back sprocket, so for me to get the chain off and soak it there isn't an issue with hurting the O-Rings.

If I'm not mistaken the manual states to clean the the chain in a high flashpoint solvent. I'm at work though so I can't check.
