I used a dremel to grind mine off, I havent had any movement at all. However, I didnt reuse the phillips screws either, I went to sears hardware and bought socket head cap screws and replaced all that crap.

Grind or cut and then don't clamp them so tight that they break in a fall, you want them to rotate on the bars under pressure. Also makes adjusting easier as you can bang them with the palm of your hand to tweak the position.

I have those exact bars, filed the nubs off, and have not had any issues. I had to move everything around to get fitment correct on everything and would have ended up with swiss cheese bars in the end.

Also my throttle cables ended up pretty snug at full left turn so watch that. The TM33 fixed that though.

dremel for sure drilling will loose strength. I have the same bars and I have had no slip probs. or with it staying tight. Nice bars.

In this application I would (& did on mine) modify the controls. Drilling the bar has its place in my book but not my first choice here.

Damn, I hate to be the only one with a differing opinion. Oh well. I drilled my Tag bars. Any time that I have changed bars I have drilled them. I just have never liked the idea of my switches being able to rotate on the bars.
Thats ok, I drill...... you grind.

Sometimes bikes will use the pin to locate the throttle assembly--in that case then I drill, I dont want the throttle rotating accidentally when I ride--dangerous. In the throttle pin case the OEMs rely on the pin it can be hard to tighten the throttle tight enough. Since on the KLX we are just talking electrical accessories I grind.

I don't understand how these things are gonna rotate...?? Brake levers, yes. Leave them loose so they rotate in a fall. Headlight switch and throttle tube? No, they don't rotate unless your mounting hardware is very loose. What could possibly cause them to rotate? There's nothing sticking out.

ORIGINAL: EMS_0525

i cut mine off..... you could put a thin piece of rubber between the plastic and the barsto stop movement.
