RE: A grim topic...
Just keep the KLX and buy a used WR250F I have both bikes and use them both in different times of the
year. When the fire danger is low its the WR in the woods only areas. When the woods are closed for fire restictions, the KLX is the best choice for me ,back roads and more adventure riding, exploring.I would have a hard time giving up the freedom the KLX has opened up to me. Two bikes or more is my only solution. my 2cents

If you can legalize the WR it will make a great dualsport . In my state of Oregon it is getting harder to morph one over. lots of hoops to jump through.
You might be able to buy a used WR for 2500-3000 if you go for a older one. And hey it doesn't have to be a WR a great alternative might be aTTR 250 they go for 2 grand or less for what you may lose in selling the KLX you could swing another bike.

looking at the above picture, i must say that KLX from that angle looks freaking kick ***.........eh? the shrouds and the whole profile of the front end really gets me going. but that was the main selling point for me when i bought mine, the look of the bike. adding a few things and taking off a few things just enhances. the WR's look sweet too all dual sported up. too bad we can't do that in every state. the WR would be on a lot of roads along with the honda CRF-X.

I agree. The WR and CRFX are just another step up from the KLX, and they could be just street legal enough for very light commuting and to hit the black top long enough to hit the trail head, and get back home.

Yup, I could massage and work the KLX some more, but I'd rather run a clean stock setup. It is going to cost me, luckily to dual sport the WR Im out $100, maybe less.
Its going to be about 1800 more dollars for a new WR than what I paid for my KLX new. So yes, for the same money a KLX could show up, and work the WR pretty hard.
