Default Grapevine mods started...

I started the mods this weekend. I have removed the smog stuff, and did the crankcase vent mod. I saw somewhere on this forum where someone did it with a torch and a 3/8 drill bit, this made it so very easy, and is definatly the hot setup. Thank you to whoever posted that, I cant find it...
I will be doing the rest of the mods when the needle and jets come in this week.

I have one question, there are 2 hoses connected to the gas tank that look like drain off hoses??? are those hoses needed or can I take them off, and cap the holes?

Thanks,

Kris

Hmmm, never thought of that, but I'm sure theres a reason they are there or they would have capped them. Isn't this where all the fuel comes gushing out of when you drop the bike?? Good question, if its not needed then those of us who drop our bikes all the time can save some fuel

I am not quit sure what 2 hoses you speak of but if they are part of a vent system plugging them off might affect the way the fuel flows out of the tank to the carb thus causing a fuel starvation problem. Just a thought.

Those are the vent lines and they're required. If you cap them, your bike will die with about half a tank left as a vacuum develops in the tank.

To the best of my knowledge, there are 4 hoses coming from the bottom of the KLX250S gas tank. 2 of them go to the remote petcock. Removing either of those will result in gasoline flooding your garage. Don't ask how I know this! [sm=headbang.gif]

The other two hoses - I believe the ones you are asking about are vent hoses to take any excess gas away from the rider in the event of an overfill or a spill.

Now, if they were to be capped off, I don't think there is a problem running in that manner. Most of the aftermarket tanks I've looked at don't have vent hoses. There is a vent in the cap to provide air to keep a vacuum from happening.

Give it a try and let us know what happens.
