Default Going Deeper into the Exhaust?

Drilled the 1/2 hole into the 1st baffle of the stock exhaust and liked the results. Nicer sound and not loud at all really.

NowI've got a long bit in my hands.

Do I go for the 2nd baffle?

I'm also going to replace that pea shooter with something more substantial.

How much louder is it going to be?

That pea-shooter is a pipe welded inside the muffler...if you can get it out, you will like the sond..I had to trace a circle around the hole, drill a series of smaller holes to cut it out only to find out it was a pipe welded further in the muffler. BUT with some persistant persuasion with the vice grips, I managed to break it free and continue my baffle reaming..here are the results...

What is it welded to? Just the 1st baffle or the 2nd one also?

just the first one..the pipe is only about 4-inches long (if that) it's attached at the end of the muffler and to the first plate (baffle) inside the muffler.

So, did you go after the 2nd baffle too?

I can't see all this drilling keeping your spark arrestors intact.

+1. get a slipon, you'll be happy you did. or even a fullsystem. you wont be sorry. If you do want quiet though, stay away from BG and Muzzy

I agree, I did all of the above with the drilling + more ( I used a hole saw - see my post on it.) and I still like the slip-on better plus I stillmaintain the spark arrestor. Plus it looks way better!

Okay, just where is this spark arrestor? I thought it was pretty far down beyond these two baffles.

Also, reccomendations for a relatively quiet slip on?

I won't be getting one anytime too soon as my fun money is getting tight. Just received my Utah skid plate, Scott's shark fin and Acerbis Rally Pros! Whoohoo!

Nope, it is right on the end. The check method for a spark arrestor is to stick somehthing in the pipe. It has to hit it within "x" inches.

Quiet pipes standard (as apposed to adding quiet core inserts):
FMF Q series
Pro Circuit 496
