Gearing Questions - What length chain

I guess a 13/39 would be same as 14/42 after shortening the chain. Would rather stay with the 14 in front. Anyone want to sell their stock 42?

Hope someone can help. I have 14/45 and would like to go with some thing higher geared.
I checked RMATV under KLX250s and KLX300 and nothing is listed lower than 45T for the rear.
I looked at some links on this forum but could not see another bike I could put in that would have some bolt up on the rear hub. I would like to get a 43T and also would be interested in buying someones stock rear sproket.
I would like to keep the front stock rather than jump up to the 15T as I understand I may need to do some dremel work to get it to fit.
Any suggestions?
