Where I live, it's easy to change thousands of feet in elevation in relatively short distances. Even the 14T is a little tall for many roads here. Have to down-shift to make it up over some hills. I tried a 13T, which was GREAT off-road, but too short for riding street... got the revs up too high for my liking. That's why I went back to the 14T. A 15T would be out of the question for me.
Rgoers, I meant the other gear!! But I certainly appreciate this information. It is useful. I think that stock gearing sounds like what I will stick with. I would prefer more relaxed cruising but we live in a pretty hilly area. Also, if I do venture out and try the Adventure tour thing it would be going over a mountain pass and a lot of grade change. Between Spokane and the coast there is some beautiful riding. I would need to pack some real fuel for that.

Gear vs gearing, you do get what you pay for, I've ruined several sets of cheap filp-flops on tight trails in the woods to the point where I ride bare foot alot anymore. Cargo shorts, a wife beater and a good pair of gloves.
