even after the black rims, fender, and seat cover- it's still just a KLX.

Even after the red plastic and digital speedo it's still the same bike that you sold a year or so ago. [sm=owned.gif]

touche!!!! you killed, owned, made a fool, etc out of me. you rock!!!
chill out dude, it's not like your bike is a Husaberg or TE. I like your bike and wasn't knocking it. And you know what, you're right. This is the bike I sold a year ago. But you also know what? I loved that bike and I am glad you see it that way because I can only hope that this new red one can be half the bike that one was. Thanks for the compliment.

oh, btw. you did know that for '09 it got: improved transmission, larger radiators and fan, larger wheelspokes, larger tank, updated handlebars and peg positioning, new more rigid D-section swingarm, revalved suspension, larger rear brake, petal brake rotors, better front brake routing, digital clock with twin tripmeters (you already mentioned the digital speedo) red as an option, grips that you would otherwise buy at a shop to replace the ones that came on your KLX stock, updated carb components, better lighting, new and improved seat. I probably forgot something.
So yes and no to your above statement. It is the bike I sold a year ago, but then again it really isn't. The frame and engine are the same but most of the rest of the bike has been changed in some way or another. (Forks are different, swingarm is different, tank, seat, bodywork, rear shock, wheels, tires, handlebars, etc.)

How can something be new...AND improved [8D]

Anyway KO (that will be your nickname, at least for me anyway), what did they improve on the carb? I'm also curious if theres an option for a kickstart.

yes, kickstart option is still there. just because something is new doesn't mean it is an improvement over what it replaces. case in point- the '09 KLX seat, and this is really a subjective matter anyhow in regards to comfortI'll admit but it no longer resembles the seat that came on my 1988 KX125.It is a new design, and it is an improved design over the one it replaces. Thus new and improved. I'm in no way braggin about it, I was just stating the changes made to the '09. Seems several just think it was a change to 6th gear and lower susp. travel. The bike really only shares a frame and engine with the old bike. But I'm not saying the old bike was bad, I love my '06 and think it was a beautiful thing, with or without black rims.

The 1991 Ninja ZX7 was an all newly designed bike, but it was not in the same class as the 1990 ZX7 model which would trounce it bad in virtually every performance category. Thus new but not improved.

Havn't re-jetted yet, just wanted to get the muzzy on and ride. Def notice a power increase by getting rid of that crap stock exhaust.
