Why? If I store the bike for more than a couple weeks, if I don't drain the float bowls (usually by turning the fuel petcock off and letting it run until it dies/runs out of fuel in the float bowls when I put it away), then it's extremely hard to start - sometimes I've had to drain the float bowls before it will start. Is it the ethanol in the fuel? Maybe, maybe not, but either way, the above is fact not fiction - it won't start easily, or at all, unless I've drained the float bowl when it's stored, or if I forgot to, when I go to start it after it sitting. It sounds like others have the same situation, so I'm not alone.

(sarc on)Perhaps that grumpy old guy who knows it all and thinks the rest of us are imbeciles expects us to send bowl samples of fuel to a lab for analysis before what we have observed is possible? OR, he is being sarcastic in a special way? Bless his soul!(sarc off)

I use Berryman B-12 Chemtool every so often after I fill up, per the directions on the can, helps to have a measuring glass. (for the KLX)
there is one local station that sells pure gas, no ethanol blended in, I usually stop there to get 93 octane for my sport bike, but I ran ethanol blended 87 octane in the KLX last year and still got good gas mileage.
berryman b-12 chemtool is safe to use in 2 stroke 4 stroke and watercraft motors, just be sure whatever you use, that its safe to use in a 4 stroke engine.
that being said, I put STABIL in the gas tank and carb for winter storage, but drain the carb and tank into a old gas can, and put fresh fuel in the KLX in the spring to start and run it.
I use STABIL mixed gasoline in my lawn mower......
I did however put the STABIL in my fuel injected motorcycle, and it started right up no problem.
the only problem I had starting my KLX this year, was remembering to pull the choke to start it!
replaced the spark plug anyways.....
gotta love carbureted motors!

Not sure who gave me the idea from reading different threads but today I drained my carb after the bike sat for several weeks in the garage with 10% Ethanol gasoline in the tank and carb. The bike started and ran much better than it does without draining the carb. Even just a few days parked had my bike running roughly for some time. This is better than driving to NC to fill gas cans for the bike. I think the pure gas will be great for the lawn mower though.

I just got my Kawi, but I had a couple '86 Honda Reflexes for 25+ years. I have four 5 gallon gas cans, I always fill with pump premium and stabil treatment. I always turn off the petcock and let the bike idle until it dies. When storing in garage for winter, I top off the tank to keep rust at bay. I put that in everything I own, lawnmower, roto-tiller, GasGas EC 200. I've never had an issue with starting in the spring.
