I've also never once had my bettery on a tender.. Stock battery from 07, starts strong every time. It's sat for up to three months and started right up when the time came.

I think some people are putting way too much thought into it.. Just like with motor oils
Speaking of, which do you guys recommend?!?! hahaha

Had a cousin-in-law that worked at a truck stop. He had a late '70s ford pickup that leaked oil, and would simply use the USED diesel truck oil in his gasoline pickup. Drove it for at least 50K miles that way before he sold it. Also knew a guy that ran his Chevy Luv pickup for 150K miles without a single oil or filter change. He just added oil when it was low. When it finally went, he was really surprised to know that you were supposed to change oil .

No, I don't follow all these steps, but the one about leaving used oil in the crankcase of a stored engine is pretty universal. Modern engines, fuels, and oils have diminished some of the potential residues in the engine oil these days, but there are still quite a few nasty chemicals floating around in used oil that don't help gaskets, rubber parts, and fiber clutch plates. Again, I don't follow the oil change issue, but then my bike never sets a full season because of our climate. It's probably not a major deal in this day and age, but there's probably a little smoke even if there isn't a forest fire.
