On my '07, my FMF powercore4 does not fit my stock header.
When you slip it over the stock header, there's (my eyeball estimation) about a 1/16th of an inch space all the way around. You could idiot rig some kind of rubber gasket around the header end and hose clamp the crap out of it...kinda.
For $159, you can get a 300 header from fourstrokeworks.com and it will fit nicely with any pipe for a 300.
I think some people are doing an FMF powerbomb header and matching pipe, but I don't know the specifics on that.
I got my pipe from http://www.chaparral-racing.com/, $260 free 2 day shipping. So for $440ish and I have what feels right to me. The weight savings alone is worth it.
I'm exhausted. My point being, the Ebay guy said this is for an '09, which got me wondering if it will actually slip right on an '09 and fit without any idiot rigging involved.

deej- dry as a bone in my neighborhood, thanks for asking though. I know some would like to see me live in cedar rapids but nah. I'm living the high life, almost feel guilty. My biggest worry is if it's gonna rain so I can drive my bike to class or have to drive the car.
I still think the muzzy looks like a musical instrument with its tip, but I have never said I didn't like it just that I preferred the bg.

I got my pipe from ebay store a few days ago and it fits my 09 klxs. Just beware that the steel tab (not the billet one!) may need to be bent a little with pliers then when you tighten it up it forms nice and snug on your frame and is easy to get on off next time.
I also have the FMF power bomb header that is at least 20% wider than stock. Fits fine.

It's generally accepted amongst the people I talk to that dents in a header affect performance, most likely in the low end rather than mid to high. Dents restrict air flow. I don't care if it's a dime sized dent, nickle sized dent, or quarter sized dent, it will restrict air flow and this is not good. This is just one of those things that if you spend enough time around bikes and other riders, you just *know* it.
The manufacturer of the pipe spent tons of money on R&D to figure out the best place to even BEND the header to get the most out of it. Bend it too much and it restricts, don't bend it enough and your low end suffers. Why do you think aftermarket headers are a larger diameter than the stock? Why did FMF develop the powerbomb? Why have so many other manufacturer's tried to duplicate it...and can't really to the same effectiveness. They realize the performance gains from their R$D...it's no mistake that the "powerbomb" section is the length and width that it is and it's placement in the header is where it is.
Also, you need to have a snug fit between the header and pipe...this too is just a *given*.

So... We as a community, feel that the FMF Q4 will not fit perfectly to my stock header. I would need to get the P-bomb header also. Why buy a slip-on if ultimately you will need the full system to make things mate up properly. Slip-ons assume you have already installed a fatter tubed header? Learning here... bare with me.

I just called FMF myself and they said...
The 09 slip-on will fit the 07 if you use the supplied "reducer sleeve" and to make sure the slip-on comes with all the parts from the ebay seller.
They also said that 07's are simply left over, unsold06's with updated stickers on the shrouds. I think I'll check my manufactured date...
