FMF Powercore 4 - Quiet Insert
Hi All
I bought the FMF powercore 4 a month or two ago, i managed to get round to fitting it last week.
Going from the stock exhaust to this certainly did improve performance, their was just one downside to this imo.
The NOISE,
At the moment i'm using the klx as a daily commuter, i'm up for work at 7 am and id have the bike warming up at for around half past.
In the process I had concerns that i would be disturbing neighbors etc so i decided to get a hold of the quiet insert.
The part i ordered was the "powercore 4 1/8 Quiet core s/a Insert"
This arrived today, so i removed the s/a that was currently in and installed the new one.
Fired the bike up and immediately it was a noticeable difference, the idle was a much quieter, although after twisting the throttle to around 5k rpm it wasn't much quieter at all.
This in my case was a win win situation , id still have a nice deep raspy tone whilst riding, but a nice sound to keep the neighbors and the Mrs happy early hours.
i've put together a Quick comparison video here i know the gopro doesnt do much justice here but it might help others.
(Size Comparison)
(with Spark Arrestor)
(Quiet Insert Size)
(With Quiet Core)

I have the same setup on my '12. I do a lot of riding on mountain trails and I have to admit that I like riding with the quiet insert better-I can sneak up on the bears with ease. I didn't notice any real performance loss so for me it's a win-win.

Man that thing looks almost as small as the stock pea-shooter. I have the "regular" quiet core and it is definitely quieter than without it. Looks the same from the outside but has the tube that goes into the exhaust instead of just the arrestor screen.
