ORIGINAL: Gomerpile
yep, here are a few more of my guns and the motivation to use them.
Nice setup Gomer, I got a fly rod setup like that, I think I carry the same weapon S&W 40?
] Man, I must be sheltered riding in the pine barrons.... The only armed folks I see are hunters and they are either carrying rifles or bows.....and thats only in-season...
Does everyone who rides inWA carry??[8D] Are there Banditos?[

Was wondering if anyone carries fishing poles on the klx with them. Are you using regular poles or ones that telescope. Post some pics of how you carry them if you have any. Thanks.

I somtimes carry an old Eagle Claw sectional fly rod. It is 6 sections, 14" each. This little 7' stream rod has done someprettyserious trout slaying. I also have an ultra liteDaiwa breakdown spincast for some of the small lakes around here. Like right out the back door
. God Ilove this place.
I got a little Mitchell spinning rig, run 10lb spider wire or braid, comes isn 4 pieces and a little reel,
coupla lures, a sqiggy or two and hey presto I turn into Gollum (fresh fish, fresh an wriggling)
packs down into a soft case about 12 x 4 x 4. (inches) when the Illustrious Leader returns with her camera I'll take a photo and post it.
Cheers from Tasmania
where its 25 degrees Centigrade....and crystal clear.

I have a couple of st. croix fly rods that I take with me. I have caught more fish with the fly rods then any other tackle. The fish just love those little flies. In lakes you can probably take about 15 brim out of the water within 5 minutes, and brim are fun as hell on a little fly rod. But big bass are even more fun.
Are there any laws against carrying guns in the WMA that you guys go riding in. I know here in Georgia they prohibit any firearms in certain WMAs when its not hunting season. You can't have fire crackers, bows, arrows, sling shot?, and definitely not a gun. My only concern is that the WMA is saturated with Wild boars and Bears, though the boars scare me more as i have been chased by them, those things are berzerk. I don't know what the hell the park rangers are thinking, if a boar or bear is coming after me, I would like a chance to live rather then just stand there and get mauled.

Not everyone, but I bought a pistol about 6 years ago to carry with me when out in the woods fishing. The main reason I did this was because I discovered while back tracking along the bank of the rivers I was being followed by a big cat, and we have bears here too, so I just felt safer with the 9mm. Then someone told me that I needed a bigger gun. Before I could get a larger handgun, someone broke into my truck and took everything including a police scanner, CB radio, all my fishing gear, and a Fluke clamp-on meter, and the gun. Anyway I have heard that a 9mm would only make a bear or a cougar mad at you, and that you really should have something with a little stopping power. I re-newed my CWP (expired for3 years)and bought the 44 Mag, and called it a Dual Sport Gun in order to convince my wife to let me get it. Now I carry it with me when riding in the woods, and use it for hunting (if I ever get that good) Just a couple of twists with a 50 cent piece and the scope comes off. I have a shoulder holster for the gun by its self and one big enough for the scope mounted. I also got a hip holster, but then it becomes not so concealed.
It sticks below my coat. But that's OK. Even if I never have to use it, at least I feel safer. Oh the cougar thing out here in Western Washington has exploded since the state banned hunting them with dogs. They are everywhere.
Wow I didn't know that they made a 9-1/2 barrel, might as well get a Thompson Contender.
