First spill
I've only been riding since late July, but I already feel like I've learned so much. I know that that can be deadly. On or off-road.
This was back in 2006. Might seem like a long time ago and I bet Deej has improved his skills since then. But still-don't get cocky guys! The bike has replaceable parts....we do too sort of, but at a HUGE premium.
Keep riding and stay safe.

Don't feel bad Deej it sounds like you did great. I've chased my son around a track near the Fraser river and he kicked my butt. He's 10 and rides a PW 80 and has no fear. I have a fear of breaking my bike and maybe my body. I ran my wifes 125 around and had more fun , probably because it's lighter and has less breakable parts. I later tried to convince her she needs bar risers to help her riding position, she wasn't buying it, but as the designated family mechanic I'll probably install them when I'm hiding in the Man Castle.
ya wrecking sucks. i bought my bike brand new in August and a week later after i bought it, i broke my wrist. kinda sucks. All healed now though. When your 17 you bounce back pretty quick. scratched it up a little and bent the bars. had to buy a new shift lever too.
Deej, sorry to hear of the spill.
41 years old... your just a kid. I'll be 71 in February and I spent Sunday afternoon on the 'A' section of a 3.5 mile Hare Scrambles track. Lots of it is through the tight pine woods with whoop's about 2 feet deep. Lots of sand and roots. It took me two tries to finally make it through the course, and only after one of the 'A' riders took some time and worked on the suspension of the KLX and tightened it all up. I just had installed a pair if Kenda Trackmaster's on the bike on Saturday and that helped. But a race bike it ain't.
I took one pretty good spill and three light ones when I just didn't make a shift down into 2nd soon enough. Luckly I only bruised the inside of my right knee and that won't slow me down too much.
After 4 hours of that I was absolutely pooped and while driving back from the woods got to thinking. What am I thinking about still trying to do this?
I think I'm going to sell the 2007 KLX and the 2006 Nomad 1600 and get that new black '09 KLR650 that I saw at the shop Saturday and just stay on trails and in the road with it and the GL1800 for touring.
Heal up and do it again. Later,
Tommy

Hey Tommy, the KLR would be a great bike if you were to get rid of both of the other bikes, its more comfortable to ride on long trips and you can still do some trails and all of the fire roads. Let us now what you end up doing.
GUYS your never too old to go big, I am 36 and I have: 7 steel plates in my face, 3 plates on my pelvis, fake Knee, Broke both shoulderblades, all ribs, Left wrist and various injuries all from one motorcycle accident back in 1991. and I think I ride harder now than I ever did as a kid. Deej I know the post is old and your riding has improved. I just thought that I would say old wrecked guys can ride hard.
