RE: finally some pics of my bike.......hopefully
i post this just for referral use only. i had a hard time picking out a helmet that matched that was of good quality. i found this and am very fond of it. it's an HJC AC-X3. It's a good carbon/kevlar piece i believe. It's snell approved and affordable- like $175 or so I think. HJC has sold more helmets in the US than any other manufacturer in the last 10 years. That doesn't make them better, but just an interesting fact to consider.

The original 400ex made 28 hp off the showroom floor, I don't know if they've updated the motor at all since then. With your mods it probably made close to 35 all said and done. I saw some of the new 400's and 450's at the ice races I went to a few weeks back, they were pretty darn quick.A girl on a 400 lapped the entire field the first race and easily won every other she was in. But then again she had on dedicated ice tires with studs in every lug. Nice rides Iowaguy, so it sounds like you are really torn between keeping the KLX or opting for the Husky?

You know, you seem like an alright guy when you're not being an ***!
Nice looking machines and family. You need to try and wear out that KLX some more. It still looks new man.

nobrakes- know what you mean. as i'm sure you did, me and my sister rode the wheels off of it. oddly we still have it back at my mom and dad's house. back in '96 after my bike wreck and i was laid up for around 3 mos. me and my dad bought some points and a new plug and got it running again. but i think it needs an overhaul. of course it won't start at all now but would pretty easily i'm sure if someone put some time into it. it's seen its better days, but it will never leave my family though guaranteed.

Nice assortment of wheels you've go there. (I'd say you've got a slighttendancy towards MBD, but nothing too serious to worry about.)
Pretty cool that your kids are interested in Daddy's hobby. Why not get some old service manuals for your daughters to use as coloring books ... then when they're older, they'll be all set to do the wrenching for you!

NOT boring, Iowa.Kids will put a ray of sunshine in any thread. Your wife must be really cool because I think mybetter halfwould freak if I putour daughter on a bike. That's a sweet looking sporty. One of my riding buddies has one almost like that, minus the rare color scheme.
When you mentioned your previous bikes, it brought back memories of switching from the oldsuzuki 2-stroke 'Tail Hopper 50' to an RM-80 at age 10. Man, talk about a wake-up call! Later,my father bought a fixer-upper Yamaha Enduro 100, so he could ride with me.That endurowas one of the more fun bikes I rode as a kid.
