You should have been behind that old IT400 the last time I rode there. Its exhaust definitely had a unique smell. I don't know what oil he was using but it smelled almost like those bigger model airplane engines.

They are a hoot! The guy I rode with on this ride with the KDX200 just bought an '05 KTM 300 2t. I can't wait to try it out. He told me the same shop I bought my '07 KTM 450 EXC has a left over '08 KTM 300 2t for a steal, that was a great year for the 300's. If only I had the money right now, I think I would do it. I'll ride his '05 first, though, and see how I like it.

I had the Ktm 300 08 and it was great, I set it up with supermoto stuff and it was ripped off. I bought the BMW with the insurance settlement wish I would have bought another 300 instead.

You'll definately want mine when I'm done with it then!

I have a 1998 YZ250. In fact, I've owned it twice now. It was a great bike the first time, then it got stolen and trashed. After 18 months of being trashed, it was recovered.

According to my insurance company, it wasn't worth the impound fee that I paid to get it back.

I then did the following:

Complete Frame-Off Restoration

Blasted frame to bare metal, primed & painted (6 coats primer, sanded between coats, 5 coats color, color sanded between coats, 3 coats of clear, sanding between each.)

That paint job is actually "guaranteed" to last 6.5 minutes, or 1 kick start, whichever comes first.

I am due to start the process of putting it back together beginning day after tomorrow (28 Jan 2009) and I hope to have it finished by Spring.

I'm probably going to order another complete Airbox assembly and Filter for it as well since all the other new plastic would make the original airbox look out of place.

Tranny is in great shape and it pulls 148psi on my compression tester. (stock acceptable values are 125-151psi, if I recall correctly.
