exhaust question and tuner
Hello! I have an '18 klx 250 and Im planning on getting an FMF exhaust and header for it pretty soon. I read through the sticky thread several times and got as much as i could from it. Just have a couple questions, since the bike is EFI do i need to get a tuner as well with the aftermarket exhaust? And I also read some old threads about people using the KDX snorkel on the klx 250, wondering if this is better than going lidless?
thanks in advance

Snorkel is good if you have a reasonable possibility of getting into enough water that it may wet down the filter if no lid. No lid or snorkel has more flow if it is needed. I do run the KDX snorkel because it is around twice the cross sectional area and shorter in length than the OEM 250 one that I had on the 09. The KDX snorkel is about as big as the ID of the intake boot, where the OEM one is no where near as large, pretty much guaranteeing it is extremely restrictive. No idea if the EFI has the same snorkel, but probably does.
I have an 18 klx250 also. I installed the FMF Q4 slip on and removed the lid for the air box. I have been very happy with it. It did take approx 100 miles for the bike to "learn" the new set up.
I plan on getting an EJK tuner soon so I can"fine tune it a bit, but it is a definate seat of the pants improvement.

It is the KDX200/220 snorkel. Same was used on the KLX650 as well. Not sure about the KLX3000. If you want the part number consult the link in my signature to get to the cheap KLX250 mods and look in there.
I have 2018 KLX250 with KDX200 snorkel. Without snorkel or open airbox is a bit too loud at times for my trail riding. FMF Q4 with megabomb header put on last wkd. It sounds and looks great but have not been able to really ride it much yet as I'm doing other cleanup and mods. EJK EFI tuner on the way to hopefully optimize it all.
EJK special instructions for the KLX advise; We do suggest plugging off the bike's PAIR Valve system to prevent decel pop
EFI Controllers - Electronic Jet Kit - Motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, Sportbikes, Snowmobiles, Watercraft, Dirt Bikes
Does anyone know how to do this the easiest on an '18 KLX (which is the kawa KCA secondary exhaust cleaning system)? I'd rather not rip too much stuff out if possible.
