Can anybody elaborate on the benefits of keeping the stock header, yet going with an aftermarket can?

I'd love to save some 200 odd USD on my next upgrade, since low and mid end are precisely what i'm looking for.

Here's something for you BG owners. My brother got one (not on yet) and it says to repack the thing every 15 hours of riding. Is that true? that would be like, after like 4 or 5 rides you have to repack it?

Can't remember whose bike this is but I used it to illustrate the fit issue of my FSW pipe. I think the area boxed in red toward the front is what you are talking about?

My opinion on header size is if you plan on keeping the bike at 250cc displacement than a slipon with the stock head pipe would be the better setup. If you know that you are going to go to 300, 331, 340 than you should be looking at going with a full system with the larger headpipe to get full benefit of the bigbore. For sinkoman, some benefits of keeping the stock header with a slipon is weight savings(the stock can is extremely heavy), you do have more torque at lower rpm than with a full system, and slipons are usually less $ than a full system. Also the fsw header is oversized as well, if you were going to go with the muzzy can and a fsw header you would be better just getting the full system. If you want the muzzy without the full system(larger headpipe)you can get the slipon and then score a stock klx300 headpipe on ebay for cheap.

Just installed my HMF slip on and it fit perfectly. I have all the carb mods and am getting a little backfiring on deceleration. Performance is what I expected and now with the Michelin Starcross tires when I crank itI feel it jump. The sand where I ride is very soft so I am not pulling wheelies but in 4th gear in the whoops I am skimming the tops. Sounds like it should now.
