You have pre-buyer's remorse? Get over it, buy smart, and if you have post-buyer's remorse, sell it for what you got it for. And if a little less, you had a great short-term lease! Go for it.

That did the trick, I met his counteroffer and we're setting up a meet. It looks like he bought the KLR and a XR650 at the same time several years ago, kitted them up, and barely rode them.
Specs on the TEAM GREEN KLR is 2006, 4200 miles (!), Engine - doo done, everything else bone stock (including crazy lean California jetting). Adds include bark busters, crash bars, skid pan, and lowering kit. I want to check the age of tires, make sure battery has a charge, and that the carb isn't plugged up from long storage.
EMS, Larry 0071, the pics were inspiring
o'l KLX-er - Don't tell me you could have got a brand spankin new unit OTD for what I paid! This is California, everything is at least half a grand more here than anywhere else. I think I got about what they are going for. I could have paid less, but only for one with mileage in the mid teens or higher.
G19Tony - kicked myself a few times for selling the W650. Not only were they cool, they were rare, Kawi only sold 2500 units in two years before they gave up and only sold in Europe, Canada and Japan. I'd like to see them sell the W800 in the states but they might have cold feet after the 650 tanked so bad over here. But the Versys was supposed to be Euro only, so who knows.
Tiger - I actually saw that clip when it aired originally. Can't imagine riding a 400 lb. bike in beach sand!

ol'klx-er, didn't mean to be evasive. Apparently, he isn't desperate, lowest he would go is $3600. I think thats about par for the course here in California. It's a beautiful state, but one pays a premium to live here. I've seen older KLR's asking $3k or less but they're usually high mileage or look like they were stored under a tarp in someones backyard.
I have one question for the KLR gurus and I really apologize for asking about another make of bike on this forum but since you're all here...
I spoke with him on the phone and arrainged a look see for Sat. Then he says oh, by the way theres something I should disclose. He says the thermostat guage never moves and thinks the sender is broken or there's a loose wire. He left it running in the driveway until the fan kicked on, so some sensor must be working.
I've heard KLR's without the thermobob run cool and it's common for the thermostat guage to stay pinned on "LO", but it should have read high when the fan kicked on. I wonder if anyone can shed some light on this. Best info I could find was here: http://www.klr650.net/forums/showthread.php?t=81491

Your question is OK here, it's a cousin (big brother?) bike.
The sender for the gauge and the switch for the fan are two separate items. So the gauge not working at all could be: 1. sender shot 2. wire broken or 3. gauge shot. Not sure on the KLR but for a lot of gauges the wire at the sender can be touched to ground as "quick-check", needle moves to HOT (Full - in the case of a fuel level).
Watt-man's Thermo Bob makes a lot of sense. I've been aware of it for a long time. He has a version for the KLX as well which I might get. On a liquid cooled engine the system should come up to temperature quite quickly and then stay fairly stable, The stock system on the KLR (& KLX?) does not do that.
