klx678, I've had a good excuse for not posting. Just got back this evening from nearly 3 weeks in Utah and northern New Mexico riding the old, reliable KLX. Rode lots of new stuff and a few of the classics I'd done in the past. The weather was great, and the KLX was stone reliable. I had my toy hauler parked in remote areas doing primitive camping, and it was extremely peaceful.

I did my fuel in a different manner this time by buying a 15-gal. steel, portable fuel tank in my pickup bed that has its own fuel hose and dispensing handle. I have a camper shell that secures and covers everything in the bed. Sure was a lot easier than messing with multiple gas containers.

I rode solo the whole time and had a blast. The guys my age in my area don't ride rough terrain anymore, and the younger guys have trouble getting off from work and such. I just keep the Garmin Inreach device on hand and keep on truckin'...LOL!

That sounds awesome! I haven't had more than a week off at a time since about 1995. I'm officially jealous

Sounds like fun. I need to retire to get to ride more. I got a new street bike, Yamaha XSR700, and am enjoying street riding in the flat lands (aka grid road layout all paved) finding a few roads that actually have curves, along the Scioto River. Now I'm not riding along thinking "I'm wearing out a perfectly good set of dual sport tires". That and getting some strengthening exercise hanging on when opening it up a bit. The other day I took off from a light a bit quickly, front wheel lifted a few inches, then chirped when it landed... had to giggle a bit.
