With some research you can do all this for around $200 and take your stock 16-18 rear wheel horse power to the low 20's. These bikes are strangled on both sides of the piston and fixing that makes a noticable improvment. On mine I'll still do the big bore someday but until then it's not too shaby.
How & where can a fellow get into a Q4 for under $200? Take the DJ kit out of that and you're talking around $150 - if I get the local dealer to get one for me he's talking around $450 (CDN), and they're around $300 on Ebay.

If you buy the jets and N1TC needle you will save a ton of money instead of the jet kit. jets are 6$-8$ a piece, cant remember what the needle is... thats what i did.

I got my FMF powercore 4 for 160$ brand new to my door on ebay by just waiting on the best deal so it can be done with if you are willing to wait on a good deal.

Smile Whipper snappers

Thanks to all you young whipper snappers for all the very good input.. I too
would like to know where to get a slip on for uder $200 ! I sold my 2000
Nomad six weeks ago, as I do not travel on a bike anymore. A week later, I was at a local bike shop, when they traded for an 2006 KLX 250 with 760 mi. So.... I very quickly made a deal to purchase, this like new bike. It now has 1500 plus mi. and I am mostly happy with it... although it's a tall dog ! I get on fairly easy but , getting off gives a few laughs to the other old goats down at the coffee shop, who can't believe I'm ridin that puddle jumper !
