But weight is a substitute for horsepower. Less weight has the same effect as more horsepower. If it didn't, a 100 hp cruiser would be as quick and fast as a 100 hp 600.

So the lighter 351 might just be near on par with the 400.

Regardless, the best part of the 250s vs the bigger bikes is the lighter feel due to a lower CG of the bike. That was the first thing I noticed when I rode a KLX250 versus my 650. Now if they could just get the 650 to have the same characteristics of the 250 with that power... pipe dream.

exactly what im hoping about a big bore klx...lighter, more nimble with drz-ish power is spot on what i want...now to find one for sale......

Yah the 400 is listed 20lbs heavier but feels like 40 when picking it up. But while under way you don't really notice it, but you do notice the extra ponies and higher ground clearance.

ive had 2 klx250s and 2 drz400s..the power on the drz was nice...but the klx being smaller, seemingly lighter/lower center of gravity was nice..just the piped/jetted kawi didnt cut it..im hoping it with a 331 will suffice
