Default Drivetrain Noise?

Lately my chain has been really noisy so I've adjusted the slack as it was too loose. Its set to 2.25 inches per the manual. Which seemed to quiet things down, it was a bit clattery and was over 2.5 inches before adjustment. The chain is a bit stiff and I haven't been able to clean the bike due to temps, as such it hasn't been lubed in a while.

Now whenever I back out of the throttle there is a slap like sound. I'm guessing its the chain but I can't figure out what it might be hitting being that the slack is set correctly. Just messing with it, it kinda sounds like if you flick the chain up into the swing arm.

Similar note, when going through washouts or any other deep dips in the road, when the rear suspension compresses there is a rubbing sound. I thought it was the tire but there are no wear marks anywhere, so if it is the tire its just hitting the little shock protector fender, but even that has no wear marks.

I'm wondering if that sound could be the chain rubbing the upper chain roller on the frame? I've never noticed it before. If it makes a difference my bike is lowered 1".

Default RE: Drivetrain Noise?

id imagine if the noise is being produced by the chain hitting something you should be able to discern wear marks somewhere on it.. whether it be the sides/top/bottom... maybe try lubin er up good and takin it for a ride once the lubes dry.. then takin a good look at it to see if theirs rubs/wear anywhere on the chain.
