Just got a 2009 KLX250S for my daughter

Its really a nice bike

Nothing has been touched

I ordered a Dyno jet jet kit
I installed a Uni filter
I order a KDX snorkel

I plan to remove air injection-

I do plan to leave the stock exhaust on for a little while

I read conflicting stories of it has a cat in it or not

Anyone remove smog, rejet and run stock muffler

I think if it really had a true cat it would heat up and clog from the lack of air injection and new jetting being richer?

So- what the word on cat conv on these bikes

and once I do add exhaust -what is nice and quiet- but more free flow

Yes, it has a cat.

I have Removed smog and rejetted before I got my pipe, it was fine. The FMF QuietCore4is a good choice.

Yes, the '09 has a CAT. I (also) did the SMOG removal, and installed the DynoJet kit and KDX snorkel, before getting a pipe. Wasn't a problem.

I sometimes go back and forth between the stocker and DEP pipe on mine. The stocker definitely robs some power - it's very noticeable.

 

Welcome to the forums. You will see a difference with the mods you mentioned. It always helps drivability and power to get rid of the EPA optimized carb settings. The needle in the DJ kit is really good.
