Differences in head 2009 to 2013?

s10gto - I was thinking about this last night and suddenly realized exactly what you are saying which is the top cam bracket makes the other half so they must be a factory pair. I'd like to thing you could find one and have it align honed but not sure. Sounds like I'm back to looking for a full replacement head which isn't idea but not the end of the world.

they are machined as a pair and cannot be bought separately.

i'm reluctant to say this - but i do have a cam cap from a prior head swap. you are welcome to try it, but i think you'd be asking for trouble particularly wear due to runout etc, unless they can be TIG welded and remachined.

For what its worth, I have the 2009 head that it came from - it has several bolt holes that need to be TIG'd and remachined....

I noticed today that there is also chinese aftermarket engine head (full assembly) offered on aliexpress, not only 250/300 cylinders. Try search "klx250 head".
Don't know about quality, but price ir much lower than for oem Kawi head.
