Differences in head 2009 to 2013?
I’m going to need a new head for a 2013 KLX 250S and I might be able to score one from a 2009. Are there any differences that would prevent me from using it.
I can’t find any but want to check with the experts here first.
Thanks!

Not 100% sure, but I think they are the same. While your waiting for someone to reply, you can always compare part numbers for them online from Rocky Mt or somewhere else that sells OEM parts.

From what I've found looking at part number for the actual cylinder head are below:
2009-2010 = P/N 11002
20011-2013 = P/N 11002A
I'd like to think I could use anything back to 2009 but I'm trying to confirm that before I pull the trigger on an older head and find out I made a BIG mistake.
Thanks for any help guys.

Update -- KLX Scored!
A quick little 550 mile round trip makes me the new owner of a 2013 KLX 250S with some head damage. I got a little more insight into what happened which makes sense.
According to the PO, the engine ingested some water during a stream crossing (due to a gap in the connection to the airbox) and it bent a valve and cracked/broke the cam retainer assembly. Everything else looks in good shape. I've inspected the cams and head for any scoring or scratches. Replacing a valve is easy as appears it just kissed the piston, but from what I've found you can't buy just the cam retainer assembly.
Any thoughts from the group on best options? I'm going to post up and see if anyone possibly has one from a prior build or a head that was otherwise damaged.
I might start another thread for a resurrection of the bike and if so, I'll post a link here.
Thanks!

Check the head gasket and the bolt numbers for cross over. The head number is different, but it might be a minor change, maybe a different casting or something. If the gaskets are the same the head will fit the engine. Another possibility - go to a Kawasaki dealer service department and ask them if they could check with Kawasaki for the fit. If anyone knows Kawasaki would.

Too bad it broke the cam cap. Your correct you can't buy that. Even if you could it wouldn't work. The head is line bored for the cams with the cap to insure a perfect hole. Every head is unique to it's cap.
The only head that I know of that is different is the EFI head. It has a temp sensor and a different bolt pattern for the intake.
You can even get a 300 head. It just won't have the air injection port but most block if off anyways .
