There was one point where the trail split. One was was easy, and the other way was labeled the "hero section" ha ha. Well I aint skeerd. Honestly some of the rest of the trail was as hard as the hero section ended up being. Here I propped the ol beater digicam in a pine tree set the timer and just happened to get an action shot/self portrait.

I got done with the first loop at 11:50. I ran into town to get some gas at the lone quickie mart, and made it back to the start line at 11:55. Definitely wanted to get my second lap in. It would have been nice to stop and get some of the lunch the Lions club was selling at the start, but some mini snickers and a bottle of water on the trail would have to do. I laid the bike down twice, but really did some damage coming out of a tight turn. You had to goose the bike to get around a downed tree. Well I got it turned and around the first tree, but coming out of the corner, another tree laying on the ground caught my front wheel and took me right off the trail, and into some cattle fence, the big square wire stuff. The left radiator shroud got hooked, bent back and shattered. Damn, Oh well, thats the price you pay when your having fun.

Anybody got any shrouds they want to sell?
BTW towards the end of the second lap the bike started popping on decel. The next few days it seemed to run worse and worse. It didn want to idle at stoplights and was really popping alot on decel. I thought I beat the hell out of it on the dual sport ride and had really messed it up. The air filter was the first thing that came to mind. Took that out and cleaned it. While I was waiting for it to dry, I started the bike to see if it would run better without the restricted (dirty) air filter. It didn't run any different, but while it sat there trying to idle I noticed that the vaccum cap I had put on the carb, when I removed the smog crap, was missing. I covered the opening and the bike started idling perfectly. I put a new cap on and ran a zip tie around it. Back in business.
Hey hope you like the pictures. If you see something like this in your area, you should go try it. Dan

Looks like a very fun ride, great pics. Thanks for stopping to take them, I would not have had the discipline to do that.

i wish i woulda known about that! Im only bout 100 miles from there. How close is it to byron drag way? Hi Ryathis, Leaf River is the next town west of Byron on Rt.72. I'd say 5 miles west of Byron. I should have posted the announcement up before the ride, but I do everything late, or not at all. =) They do it every year in the fall. Where are you located?

Nobrakes your right it is hard to stop and take pics, but it sure is cool to have them later. I know you have gotten around this by shooting while you ride, very cool.
ddt1972, I dont know if black shrouds would go with the green rest of the bike?? You mentioned green shrouds?
