Ok, I wanted to wait until it was all done, but I now have 6.9 gal fuel capacity for those longer trips like the one I'm taking to Vancouver Island Canada. However I might just use the exhaust side for water for safety. So if some of you were wondering why I wanted another set of foot pegs, this is the reason.[8D]
Ok the mod report go a little like this. There are perhaps only a few times when I would need another 2 gallons between fill ups, so I decided to come up with an easy switch-a-roo.![Big Grin](https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
My life as a Jerry Can started out as a street sign that some punks knocked down.

My first attempt was to cut all kinds of angles and have it welded, but then the cardboard template made me realize that it was going to be a lot more work that I wanted to do.

Well I decided that there was an easier way, and here it was.
Cut the shape of the bottom of the gas can and then wrap it and rivet it.![Wink](https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)

So up till this point the cans were almost free, but then I took them to a guy to get the seam welded and also to have it welded to the foot pegs onto square tubing, and I just about fell over when he called and said it was done and the cost was $70.00 YIKES!!! My wife was less than thrilled. But what are you gonna do right?![EEK!](https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Here they are all mounted up, I still have to add a piece of flat stock to brace it from the can to the frame. But I should be able to swap them out in just a couple of minutes. I decided that water on one side would be safer, but time will tell.

How far? well 3 times as far, and safe? well safety is a relative thing, and legal? Hmmmmm not sure on that one, but I have seen 1 gallon plastic red gas cans strapped on bikes all over the highway, so I don't know about that one. I'm taking them across the ferry to Canada but the trick is that they will be brand new cans that have never had gas in them. Maybe I could shrink wrap some camo tape over them.[8D]

i'd think about putting a hole on each side of the metal part so that you could put a bungy cord or maybe a hinged strip of aluminum up over the cans. also with all that extra weight you might want to think of installing a stiffer shock spring. i can envision you hitting a bump and boinging down the road for a mile
with that stock spring.
aside from that you did a great job.

Very interesting!! That doesn't get in your way at all?? It's a good idea, but it looks like it takes up a lot of real estate!
