Default DANGER Will Robinson DANGER

I absolutely hate being the guinea pig.[:@] Rear tank is a no go. Rolled 'er outside to clean, and it wasn't a good thing.

These are bent mounting tabs.

Paint flaking from stress, loose muffler bolt.

And last, but most frustraiting....

I think the weight warning in quite an important issue. I believe that gas weighs 7lb a gallon. 1.6 gallons and the tank are less than 15 lbs. Be carefull what you put back there.

Man that sucks! Was it damaged just from riding, or did you wipe out?

If you were riding on a smooth road with no bumps at all the weight may not be a factor, however as soon as you accelerate the fuel and container vertically i.e. bumps, jumps etc the G forces come into play. Landing from a jump you may be stressing the rack to 2 - 5 G's therefore increasing the mass (weight) many times.
Sorry to see you broke your bike though, years ago I broke the rear sub frame on my GPz550 I had an engineering shop weld it up for me and strengthen it.

Cheers

Garry

I welded the frame and added some support to the battery side and the rack support bracket.

Damn! That sucks! I'll keep my Pelican but watch what I put in it. So much for that idea. Let us pray the IMS solution holds up.

What an interesting way to use old ammo cans. Once you get the back end reinforced, it probably won't be a problem. I wonder what it would look like with the whole bike painted olive drab? Force recon anyone? I wish these bikes had some kind of compartment built in (besides the tiny fanny pack).
