Default CS nut

Finally broke the CS nut off of my 07 250S. Wow. They're all ahrd the first time but this one was in a league of it's own.

The CS nut and washer had a circular rubber pad behind them. Is this stock? Never seen one before. Do I need to reuse the rubber pad or can I throw that away?

Looking forward to getting the 13T on. Hopefully the front will loft in 2nd a little bit.

Hmm I don't remember anything rubber back there except the oil seal, but you would have to work to get that out. How about a photo of it?

Is it the rubber portion that is designed to be integral with the stock 14 CS?

I believe this has been mentioned here before about some/all OEM front sprockets having a rubber application or such. Bought mine used, so I'm no help otherwise.

I used an impact gun to get mine off... made the job a lot easier.

It actually took about 10 seconds or so with the impact gun hammering away for it to break loose.

+1 Impact gun is the only way to go.

When I described the "rubber washer" I hadn't removed the sprocket because I still needed to break the chain. Once I took it off, turns out the rubber IS integral to the sprocket and it appears on both the front and rear. I haven't seen one like it.

I started with a 1/2"x10" bolt through the rear sprocket holes and over both sides of the swingarm to hold the rear. Rattle gun at 90, 120, 140 (that was ah high as mine will go). 2 foot breaker bar and same bar plus hammer blows to the bar.

Liberal applications of PB blaster over a 24 hr period. Just when I thought it would never go, I decided to stand on the socket to hold it in place and let her rip with both hands on the breaker bar.

Wow. They're always hard, but 140 psi (repeatedly) wouldn't budge it.

My 1/2" impact and 125 lbs pressure wouldn't budge the c/s nut. It took a cheater pipe (my floor jack handle) slid over my 1/2" socket wrench to break that nut free. Had to lean on it pretty good too. No rubber anything behind the sprocket......

Break the chain??? You *CAN* get the 13T and 14T in/out without having to break the chain.

I had someone stand on the rear brakes, while I stood on a 24" breaker bar. Came off with some coaxing, but not too bad.

Rgoers - the chain was in really poor repair. Not salvageable by a long shot. That stocker (inherited from the PO) was 5 years and 11K miles old. It didn't owe me anything.

And, my personal limit for dirtbike bling is a nice gold chain.
