but unless you are really good it takes two hands. Keep one chambered when carrying, personally not a fan of glocks, I preffer something with a grip safety or external safety. this lets you keep one in the chamber and locks the firing pin but you can draw and unsafety in one motion with only one hand.

personally a fan of rugers, springfield XD, etc.

Can you carry a shotgun on your ride or do you think it would send out the wrong message?
A friend of mine took one while riding his bicycle around South America.
depends on the state, sometimes the local municipality is more strict and the state laws don't preempt the local ones, and if you cross into a state or national park while riding you are under another set of rules.

That's funny, when I went to Canada, you can't take a pistol, but you can take a shotgun...

Oh and on the chamber loaded issue, that's why I prefer the safety of a double action revolver. Revolvers are safer that autos, and a lot more reliable.

its not that they are really mroe reliable than a quality semi-auto. its that they require less maintenance to stay reliable (and some semi's are pretty picky about which ammo they want to feed properly)

"The SPAS-12 is one of the shotguns expressly prohibited (by virtue of reference to its design and model name) according to Canadian firearms law"
Thanks Wikipedia
You can own one in the USA though, but you can't buy it new. They stopped production of that model in 2000.
"(BATFE) declared that it was "not suitable for sporting purposes". However, the SPAS-12 was not reclassified as a Title II firearm; therefore, re-sales and transfers within the country are relatively unobstructed by federal legislation."
Thanks again Wikipedia.
