The place I bought it from, last summer, had some representitives from F&N out and they were letting everyone test the Five-seveN, PS90 and PS2000, though, we had to buy ammo for the PS2000. They had a 20% deal going that day, so, I got mine, out the door, for around $800, which was quite reasonable.

Yes, they are a bit spendy and ammo has been expensive, around $25 for 50 rounds, but, due to the light weight, ammo capacity, accurracy, rapid shot accurracy, low recoil and hitting power, it was money well spent. This is a tool to protect my life, so, money is no object, if I can afford it.

I would not reccomend placing the gun in a bag on the bike. I would reccomend carrying it on you like most have stated.

I look at it like this:

If you have to use it due to a rabid animal coming at you, finding and opening the pouch is going to cost you several precious seconds.

Also if you stop in public to go into a store you dont want everyone seeing you take a gun out and putting it in your pocket or having someone go through the bag and steal it while your in the store.

I just got my CCW (CPL in Michigan) and worry about people here because they seem to be more fearful of guns. If they (general public) see a gun (like my shirt lifts up when i reach to grab something) they call the police and say I was waving it at them and what not. This hasn't happened to me but the instructor of the class was saying this could happen.

Just my 2 cents

I read the whole thread earlier but didn't refresh so I don't know if its mentioned before, if it is I'm sorry. but...

get a shoulder holster and keep it under your jacket. Thats your best bet. Its most protected against water, mud, and dust, and external damager from tree branches or flying rocks or anything. And its hidden like these guys are saying when you go somewhere, like in a store. Plus its still very easy to access. I would NEVER ride with my gun exposed in anyway unless its on the street where nothing can get in it. ALso as long as I was legal to do so and I knew the locals wouldn't freak out. First off guns are way too expensive to ruin like that, plus you don't want dirt and grit and corrosion in there jamming that gun up when you need it most. I saw pics on here with a dude with a gun on his chest protecter on the back I think. No freakin way man...no way. I can just see a bear coming at me. I reach for it, pull it out to find it covered in dust and gobs of mud all over and when I pull the trigger hearing the grit grinding the cylinder to a halt and I'm F'd.

No certificate... just walk in and tell them its for protection, and 10 mins later walk out with a CC permit... they take ur pic and give you a drivers license type card....

Odd that nobody has mentioned the old gold standard for concealed carry pistols - the Walther PPK. Yeah, the design dates to the 1930's, but it's still being made for a reason. Simple, reliable and small.

The Kel-Tec is the 21st century successor, smaller, lighter and less expensive. An impressive piece. But the Walther still works quite well. I think it matters less what we carry than the fact that some of us do.

Yup, I'm sure. The only places you can't carry are those that were mentioned in my earlier post.

When I got my permit, I had to fill out a form (name, DOB, SSN, etc.) and provide 3 personal references. They called each one. About 2 weeks later I got my permit.

As for what weapon caliber. I think the good ole .45 is a great gun. It has good knock down power. Then on the other end of the spectrum you have people with the 9mm. Obviously a smaller weapon but it has more ammo and less recoil and more accuracy. One more thing is its more common to get a high cap mag. Theres something to be said for a 30 round high cap mag full of hollow points. I don't know much of anything that would be still standing after you finished unloading that. And if it is, you can always pop in your standard mag afterwards. 15 rounds is still alot.

I like that. Think it looks better than the Glock, but that 5/7 is still gorgeous. I think I'll go down and get a background check this weekend.

Has anyone dealt with ordering a gun online and having it transferred to your local dealer? I'm pretty sure I can find better deals online for just about anything, but the whole process might be pointless if the dealer charges a lot of $$ to transfer to you.

I know we're all over the world here so answers will definitely vary. I'm in Texas, probably one of the easiest states to acquire a pistol in!

go to gallery of guns, put in your zip code and have one shipped to a local dealer. I purchased my mil pro for 329.00 plus a 10.00 background fee. Shop around prices will vary by 20-30 dollars for the same gun. It just depends on how much cut the dealer takes. Ive purchased several pistols this way. Oh yeah the Heckler and Koch p-30 kicks butt too but more money or the kimber sis ultra is great too, but again more money.
