This Coming Weekend Might Be Awesome!
Normally I work just about every weekend. However, there is an RV Sales-a-bration going on at the parking lot that I hold my classes at. That puts me at home. However, it looks like all the planets, stars, heavens and whatever else are all lining up.
I heard the skidplates might start shipping and I just received a call from HMF that my pipe is shipping today!

I sure do hope you get them. I love getting parts on Fridays - means I have the whole weekend to play. My Muzzy showed up on a Friday - that was awesome! I think it was Memorial day weekend at that, so I had Monday off, too
Are you going to do any further jetting when you get your pipe?

Marty, I think I might be in the same boat as you. I expect a new main jet (130) from RonAyers to get here by the weekend. That means a long night Friday night getting that danged carb out. While I have it out I am going to swap my air/fuel screw with the cool Kouba screw that I got when I got my lowering links (already installed). I also hope to put my shiny new USC skid plate on.
I can't believe I am going to say this, but I think after that I am just about done with tweaking this bad boy. The only other thing that I plan to do is to swap my gas tank for a KLX300 tank. Some of you may remember a week or so ago Deej posted a link to a ThumperTalk thread where a guy wanted to swap his KLX300R tank for a KLX250S tank. I took him up on it. We are going to do the trade next month after the weather turns bad for him in New Jersey.
Anyway, we will see how that work out.
Have a good weekend of tinkering, Marty.

Man I wish I had my skid plate before I head over to Seattle, but unless it shows up tomorrow I guess I will just have to be careful.[&:]
They must still be changing the tires on Dale Jarrett's "Big Brown Truck" as nothing showed up yesterday.
Oh well, I need to put some tires on the Concours and do a tune-up on the V-Strom. I just noticed that I've put over 10,000 miles on the V-Strom already. That's since June 13th!
When you commute on them, the mileage goes up quick.
Of course, I've saved about $1000 in fuel costs in that time too!
I just heard I'm getting another item, this one unordered. It's a pair of "raising links" from Eaglemike at Eagle Mfg & Eng. I have a set on the KLR and it really makes the rear suspension behave itself. The shorter links actually add some mechanical advantage to the shock / spring. Not as much preload and better springing in the rear. They work really, really well on the KLR and I hope they do the same on the KLX.
Make sure you don't stop too long if you hear the noise of dueling banjos.

I'll be at Coal Creek in Tennessee - enjoying their 72,000 acres of trails on my KLX.

Deliverance was filmed in Georgia - which is where I live now. I ride to the area where the movie was filmed quite a bit. The roads are absolutely wicked and full of bikers on every nice weekend. Look for Tallulah Falls as you pass thru the Chattahoochee National Forest next time you feel the need to drag a knee.
Pardon me while I re-tune my banjo.
