Clutch slipping update
Well, i ordered barnett springs and they'll be here next week, i played witg the cable and it helped a little bit. When i took a ride this morning i let the bike warm up and when to hammer it and the clutch dint slip! Whew!!!! But as te bike got hotter, the clutch started slipping badly again. Any clues? Plates need replacing? Never experience this before
Sounds like stereotypical worn clutch symptoms except that now it's having to transmit a lot more torque than ever before.

I guess it does make sense that the clutch on a big bore would have to be in really good, if not like new, shape to handle a big bore kit. You have the same slip-on and the same DJ carb tuning as I do (don't know how you can run that #132 with the lid on though.) You are most likely over 26hp now. Add in the powerful "hit" of a pumper carb and I wonder how long even a new clutch will last.
Yeah i need to put in that damn pumper carb haha. Im at 2600ft and its a little rich(lid is coming off), i put lid on because i didnt know if it was clutch or lean. She needs to breathe!!!! Lol
Well your safe getting that bad boy broken in with the stock carb. I'm at 700ft with the lid off, #132, and getting right at 12.8 A/F... My 700 ft 95F to 100F air density may be equivalent your 2600Ft air, if its cooler, but you certainly don't have to worry about too lean an A/F by taking the lid off with that #132.
I just looked up your weather conditions - 75F to 90F and 12% humidity - and compared your air density to mine... You are still a little lighter at .065 Lbs per cubic foot to my .069 at top temp..... You should be running richer than I am. I bet all that displacement can handle a rich A/F though..
I live in vegas so temps in the summer are 100+ all 3 months, then fall and winter drops to about 30 (<10% humidity usually). I never understood how jetting works in correlation to elevation except higher up, less air, smaller jet.
I am going through this on my Buell XB12 right now. I realize the XB12 & KLX are fundamentally different bikes, but they share similar wet clutch designs.
My clutch began slipping badly on a hot day in congested traffic recently. All the play also came out of the clutch lever. When I got home I adjusted the clutch and the slip went away until about a month later when I was in similar traffic conditions and the slip returned. This time, no amount of adjustment would eliminate the slip.
I pulled the clutch and found no glaze or scoring, and all plates were within spec, but the basket and plates were packed up with black sludge. The only explanation I can think of is that the sludge formed from all that high temp feathering the clutch causing excessive friction material to wear off and hang around inside the assembly due to the continuous low rpms.
