Default choke question

Just wanted to to see if the choke lever looks like it is out half way? I have an 06 KLX250 that I can't get started and it looks like the choke lever is partially pulled out. Is this normal?

Hey Holly I can answer this question. I have the 06 and the choke has a 3/4 inch pull and a positive lock position when its all the way out. However if you are experiencing the common problem that a lot of us discovered early on, you might try using the start and shut down if the bike is gonna sit for a few days, weeks or months at a time. Here is it.

Shut down procedure.

1. After riding as you are pulling into your driveway, or to speed things up you can do this a block from your house, turn off the gas.
2. Let the bike run until it actually dies from gas starvation, (this may take 2-5 minutes) But that's ok it will give you time to put away your gear.
3. Park it and now you're ready for the next time you ride whether that be in a day, or a month.

Start up procedure.

1. Turn on the gas
2. Wait for 10 seconds
3. Start the bike as you always do

I guarantee this will get the bike started everytime.

Sometimes mine will not want to start easily after sitting. If she don't turn after about 15 or 20cranks, after letting the gas fill the carb (the 10 second wait thing). I let is sit for a few minutes then crank her again. She usually sputters to life then.

Rock the bike back and forth with the front brake on and chock pulled out......

Press the start button at the same time and she will start within seconds...
