Choke knob and petcock question.
New Acerbis tank isn't fitting as planned.
#1. The choke ****. Is it screwed on the brass shaft or pressed on. I can turn it but don't seem to be screwing it off. IF I can screw it off I can screw on a threaded tube to take the **** out past the petcock so it won't interfere and will be easier to access.
#2. The original petcock has two barbs and the Acerbis has one. What goes where

On the link posted earlier in this thread there is a fix for that problem. You end up using your stock petcock. Everthing will work you just have to take your time and enjoy the process. If you need help pm me and I will try to help you out.
i was just messing with my carb today to see if i could get the choke to work and if you twist it to the right the choke goes just over the line from the petcock. first time i have use the choke in like 3 months.
horizonod,
If there is only one barb on the Acerbis-supplied fuelcock, then on THEIR fuel tank, there must be only one barbed fuel outlet. All you're trying to accomplish is to get fuel into the fuelcock and then to the carb. You WILL need to use their fuelcock with their fuel tank. The reason there are two barbed fittings on the KLX fuelcock is that there are ALSO two barbed fittings on the KLX fuel tank. . . . THAT'S how Kawasaki gives the bike an "ON" and "RESERVE" fuel supply. Acerbis obviously performs the same task differently (provided that they DO give you a "RESERVE" fuelcock position). I have not seen one of their fuel tanks so I'm just guessing this to be true. . . . .

The choke **** fits pretty well between the gap in the petcock barb and the tank but if it were about 3/4 of an inch longer it would be easier to get to. I thought if the **** were threaded on I could unscrew it, add a threaded brass tube and mount the **** to the end giving it more clearance.
There are actually four barbed fittings on the factory tank. Acerbis has a filter tube that goes up about 4 inches inside the tank. There is a tube inside that extends up about 3 inches that is "ON" and then there's a hole at the bottom leading directly to the petcock that is the reserve. The reserve appears to only be about a cup full
It accomplishes the same thing but I have leftover hoses.
It looks to me like the "pump" fix to get the fuel from the wings eliminates any reserve being available.

hahahaha good one....... choke **** petcock.... git it?

You can see your fuel through the tank sides which is better than having a reserve because you know when you are getting low instead of having your bike cough to a halt in the middle a highway full of cell talking soccermoms. If you dont want to do the pump you can always make your own outlet from the tqank and have it go to the stock petcock. The choke is hard enough to get at anyway let alone fumbling about for it or holding it half on till your bike warms up.
