Chinese Bikes?
Damn that lever looks as long as the ones on our bikes!
My uncle deals in Chinese bikes as a side business, the ones he sells aren't too bad, like you said, mostly old-school Honda clones. For a beginning bike they look legit to me.
Good to see you riding with your kid. I love riding with my dad. Honestly, if it wasn't for dad, I'd trade in the KLX for a crotch bike, but then I couldn't ride with him, and what's the fun in that?

Yeah, I hear you on father/son riding. I have tried to get MY dad to pick up a dualsport but he thinks my bike looks like a japanese cartoon. He's a "harley guy." I may have to go riding with him just to make him look bad in front of his friends! :-)
Nice!. Any bike running is better than no bike at all!. And learning to take care of it is something he will ahve forever.... Nice Dad!. BTW I replaced my CT70's engine with a Lifan 90 for about 200 bucks.... its a one kicker too!.... even has electric start, if I am so inclined to use it
.....
These engines all have the same bolt pattern as the old hondas.. Looks like his is the same type of engine.

He rode it by himself today! I'll try to post a short video in the next day or two. I was so proud to see him driving a dirt bike. He did really well, nice and slow, no crashes, stopped when he was suppose to, etc. I kept it in 2nd gear and he didn't do any shifting at all so that made it easy. Since it's an auto clutch, he can just sit there at idle while he is in gear and the bike doesn't go anywhere. As soon as the RPM's start coming up, the clutch engages and off he goes. Pretty good day overall... :-)
My son started on a Loncin PY50 (PW50 clone). Great little bike, identical to the yamaha as far as I could tell. My girls have Loncin 90's which are Honda clones. They're on their 3rd season and aside from bent shifters and a couple broken levers they've held up great and start on the second kick.
Great you've got him riding, the family that plays together stays together.

How long did you wait before you put your son on the bike? I have a 2 yr. old and can't wait until he can ride solo. I bought him a bicycle and he has no idea what to do with the pedals...he just pushes it around the yard.
Good thing you got the bike when you did because Congress has had all bikes for kids under 12 removed from the showroom floors across the country. Under the 'economic stimulus plan' all parts including the PISTON have to be checked for levels of lead. As if a kid is gonna put a piston in his mouth.
