Due to my superior organizational skills I have lost track of which spring is which.
One is stock and one is a dynojet.
Does anyone know how to tell them apart.
I can measure the wire diameter and length. One is substantially longer than the other I just don't know which is which.
One is about 3.9" long with a wire diameter of .024"
The other is in the bike and I don't have the measurements for that one.
At some point in time, I should be able to measure the wire thickness of the DJ spring for you.. Not sure resting length is an appropriate measure - unless, as you say, they're significantly different.. And I can't remember what I knew about those springs..
Having the stock spring in the bike hurts nothing, on the other hand, running the DJ spring when a stock spring is specified is total lose lose for you (you lose power AND fuel mileage)..

I'm running your lidless/open exhaust system set up
from what I remember the springs are considerably different in length, like an inch or so.

.024" wire thickness
Length is speculation - mine seems to be around 3.35" - 3.40" (This spring was run in-bike for quite a long time.). But the main point is that it is no where near 3.9" !
When you recheck your measurements, if 3.9" holds true, it would seem you have a stock spring in your hand and a DJ spring in your bike..Not good !
Since your thread title is correct/good, I would suggest that you, or you and I, "put this baby to rest" (if we haven't already) with definitive measurements of both springs posted here - for posterity..
Are you also running the MCM ?
Even though you are experiencing midrange overfueling, is your performance "as expected" / super strong above 6k rpm (6k - 10.5k rpm) ?
Yes MCM cam mod.
I just got the header and haven't had a chance to do anything but start it in the garage.
When installing the larger main jet I realized the spring issue.
Big gains in felt power before the header went on just not in the upper RPM range.
Just for giggles I called Dynojet.
They say the spring spec is
3.4" long
21 coils
.025 wire diameter
For DJ spring DSP027 from the 2152.001 jet kit
So I definitely had the wrong spring in.
The correct spring made a big improvement.
Pulls nicely up into the higher rpm range.
Smooth even usable power and good low end torque.
