Default Carb question

Installing the FMF powerbomb and q4 this weekend, going to start my jetting at 125 main and 40 pilot, what is the purpose of drilling the slide and what gains? I already picked up the kdx snorkle but will try it on and without.

Drilling the slide or shortening the slide spring to lessen the tension, provides quicker throttle response. For my 07, I went with the recommendations in the Dynajet kit for the 09 klx 250 and went with the 1" shorter spring, 128 main, stock pilot and the a/f screw set at 3 turns. I have the snorkel removed and an HMF slip on with the quiet core and the bike runs great.
