Default Carb jetting

This info has been posted elsewhere but I wanted to put it here so it's easier to find.

For those of you wanting to upgrade the stock carb without shelling out for the Dynojet kit, here are the parts you can order from your dealer:

16009-1912 - Needle-Jet, N1TC
92037-1401 - Clamp, Jet Needle
92143-1667 - Collar
92063-1073 - Jet Main #122
92063-1074 - Jet Main #128

The stock jet is a 118, I'm going to use the 122 now and the 128 when I get the new exhaust.

The N1TC needle is the same as the one used in the pre-'06 KLX300 and can be adjusted with the clip unlike the fixed needle in the '06 bikes.

As others have mentioned, you also need to drill the slide vent hole with a #32 drill.

Hey Todd what groove did you use on the new needle? And did you drill out the exh.? If so how does it sound. And did you do any air box work?

My brother and I went and ordered in needles from a pre-'06 KLX300 bike. The needles that showed up were non-adjustable. Dealer said that the '06 needle superseded all the others. I'm not sure what part # was used. Did you order in this needle yet (16009-1912 - Needle-Jet, N1TC )?

I have not received the parts yet. They're due on Friday. The part system print out I received says:

16009-1912 KA KHP NEEDLE-JET, N1TC

If I don't get that, I'll be angry [:@]

I will be drilling some holes in my air box lid and using a glue gun to mount some plastic mesh over the holes to reduce the chance of water getting in but I will leave the snorkle in place.

I already drilled a 1/2" hole in the rear-most baffle plate (about 4" inside the exhaust outlet hole). It made only a tiny bit of difference in sound. I'm going to go with a Muzzy or Big Gun exhaust in the next few weeks, do the carb work, and open the air box. I'm going with a K&N filter too.
