Greetings fellow Kawasaki owners.
I've been a KLR650 owner for about 1.5 years and am really enjoying it. Just upgraded my son from a 125 dirt bike to a 2007 KLX250S.
On his KLX250S, carb leaks gas when petcock is left on (black hose that connects to bowl), so culprit is the needle, seat and/or float. I plan to replace all of them while also cleaning it out.
Carb is a Mikuni T36 88A, and I can't find the correct parts. Tried jetsrus.com and for this year and model bike, the listings all show rebuild kits with a different shaped bowl gasket.
Already tried bending the float part on which the needle slides, it helped but didn't completely solve the issue.
1. Is this the stock carb?
2. Is this carb perhaps also known as a "TM36", or are the T36 and TM36 different? Or is there a cross reference model number I can use instead?
3. Where have you found parts for this carb? It runs great otherwise, just need to stop the fuel leak (even though turning off petcock isn't a bad habit).
Cool, that's the same kit I found. Ordering it today.
Also, the left side of the engine has a "B&B" decal just like the pic at the link below, so apparently it also has a bore kit. Which helps explain the upgraded carb. http://bandbcyclerestoration.com/Home_Page.html
Yep, I sent Bill and email and he gave me his number. Very nice of him, but unfortunately my bike has the 331 kit which is not serialized, hence no records of when it was purchased. No issue, just trying to learn what I can about the history of this bike.
