jaken, internet diagnosis like this can be tough, but I'll throw out the possibility of a plugged pilot jet that may have occurred while the bike sat idle. Drained fuel from the bowl or not, it only takes a tiny bit of fuel residue in a pilot jet to gum it up. The fact that it starts with the choke and runs when you keep it revved up but dies when you try to let it idle has most of the classic plugged pilot jet symptoms.
