Thanks for the compliment!
What I've heard is that lapping valves that are titanium or titanium coated is a no-no. And I don't know the composition of our valves. Grinding the seats will make the valve set further into the head and will leave less room for shim adjustments...........similar to the intake valve clearance closing that we experience.

Just ordered:
Valve
valve retainer
2x collets
oil seal
~$50

When I pulled that valve out I made sure it was smooth first. Just slid right out. I think I am going to tackle getting it back in myself - then do what Brewster said with the alcohol. If it leaks anything, I will get the head to a machine shop.

I am currently unemployed so it's not like I don't have anything better to do!!

deej - I've been working on cars for like 10 years now. Bikes are even easier to work on than cars.. Just sometimes **** happens! This should have been a two hour job or so. Also my garage is decently equipped with tools and stuff. I got the time, I got the tools, I got a manual. I'll save the cash. Not to mention if I had a warranty it would have been void within six months

Thanks for all the help guys.

Woohoo! Found the part that I dropped into the depths of my bike's motor.. Was sitting right in back of the idler gear (I think that's what it was!).

Got the side case back on. Everything is done except I'm waiting on the new exhaust valve to arrive..

THEN hopefully I will be back on the dirt.

It's not a happy ending yet If I can get the valve into the motor and fired up on the first shot - THEN it'll be a happy ending!

Nice! Just needed a good day of fishin' to get into the right frame of mind. Next time I bang my head on a problem at work I'm just going to tell the boss I'm going fishin', be back later. Yeah, that's the ticket.

IT'S ALLLIIIVVVVVVVEEE!!!!

Got the valve in first shot with a little contraption I made to use with a C-Clamp.. Couldn't believe it! hahaa

Anyways, fired right up. I just let it do it's first heat cycle, and after dinner will re-torque the head and call it a day.

Called cometic too about the HG and they said no prob with reusing it. I did anneal it for good measure

Now I have two weeks of riding to make up for!
