Can anybody confirm this?
If I have a tbr slipon and I just got a klr300 jet kit is a new air filter unecessary? Can I just leave the stock one and remove the snorkel and have the same effect?
Also I've heard removing the airbox lid can give too much air. Has anyone tried drilling holes in the airbox lid to let in more air just no too much?

On the other hand, if you jet your bike and don't remove the lid, the engine will be starved for air and not run correctly.
Whatever the option you choose, tuning the bike will ultimately be your decision on if your KLX is getting enough air and not starved.

I've never heard of an engine getting "too much" air, it will only use as much air as it needs. Removing the airbox lid allows better flow of air to the filter. The less restrictions (airbox lid, stock filter, snorkel, etc.), the more air the engine is able to use (if it requires it).
If was going to remove the lid i would just remove the entire air box and run a cone filter on the intake. My .02

jetting will differ depending on airbox setup. I have open carbs and the jetting is higher (richer) than with the airbox on. The benefits and disadvantages are better suited for SF motards that can use more top end.

ADR have you ever had a problem getting the grip off of your throttle tube? Cuz I swear the grip and throttle tube of the 09klx250sf is one piece. (crazy as that sounds)

one piece my ****, that's nothing a wire wheel can't fix for you. mind you my throttle tube now looks chewed, and it probably wasnt the best way to do it, but i fit new grips with no troubles.

Hah I jUst ended up shaving off the old grip with a knife. Then I ca glued my cracked throttle tube and wrapped it with electrical tape. Gettin my pillowlite grips on took wayyy more effort than it should have, but they are on now and def aren't coming off unless I cut them lol.

did try removing the lid when my bike a 250, it didnt like it at all, hard to start and idle was crap. bill blue recommends to keep the lid on for the 250 and 351 so if he can produce a 351 he knows what he is talking about but just give it a try and see.
