Welp, rode the bike fine for a couple weeks, highway, wheelies, etc. Last weekend rode 15 miles on the highway to the stunt lot. Did one wheelie, put it down and bam sound is back just like the video. Threw in a manual CCT and no change whatsoever. Not sure what it could be at this point, going to check timing tomorrow and if no luck then I'm going to take the head off and have a look.

The KACR is just loose(took the spring out). I guess while I'm in there tomorrow I'll see if i can find a coat hanger and lock them out.

If you do, make sure you have them fully extended, like the spring being fully stretched. Really though, if you go back in consider seeing if you can get the darn thing pressed out. It is totally unnecessary. I started my bike in 8 degree F weather with the compression release disengaged. Spun over no problem fired up easily. My 650 couldn't do that even with the compression release and a new battery.

Well, this sucks. Turns out on of the bolts that holds the cam gear on the intake cam decided it didn't like its home there and worked its way off 😒. I guess it's somewhere in the bottom at this point. Hopefully I can get it out without splitting the case and hopefully it didn't chew anything up. Timing was still right on and bike ran fine(besides noise) when I took it apart so hopefully those are good signs. Any good threads on tearing this motor apart?

Just pull the cylinder and turn it (the crankcase) over and shake it, it should fall out. Or try a magnetic pickup tool.

(edit it for better clarity, just in case he thought it was going to be easy)

A drop of blue Loc Tite on the threads should be done. It is hand tool and can turn out easily enough with hand tools. Other way would be drilling the heads for safety wire - not an easy thing without the tool to do so.
