Thats interesting reading thru the link on LearjetMinako reply, somebody there was actually tolsd that they will hear cam chain noise around 5500 rpms. Bingo, that is around where I hear it. My 1 year warranty runs out the first of Oct. so I guess I'll just keep riding and see what happens. Really surprised that I didn't get more of a response from members here. Should of changed the thread title......

This is an update.....
Per LearjetManako's suggestion I removed chain tensioner cap and spring, inserted a 16 common nail into the opening and pushed hard till I heard one click, reinstalled spring and retorqued cap--- NO MORE NOISE!!! Chain slap noise is gone now at all rpm's. I did not have to remove my exhaust to do this. The bike is now enjoyable again to ride, thanks again LearjetMinako!!!!!

i'm a little confused on what you did. If i'm correct you pushed a nail and by nail you mean the common metal version you hammer into wood into the tensioner and bolted it up? I know it sounds a bit daft but i've never seen or heard of this fix lol.

Funny that, your old 360 didn't have cams, camchains, valves, tensioners, liquid cooling, fans and lots of other things the KLX does

The 360 was a slug compared to the klx!! nixlux- I used the nail to push the ratcheting style tensioner in 1 click to help take up slack in the chain causing chain slap between 4000-5500 rpms. I removed the nail before reinstalling spring and cap. Sorry for any confusion.
