CA Registration
Hello everyone I am very interested in this bike. I have been reading the forums on advrider and others and it seems like what Im looking for. What process do you have to go through to get it registersd in CA . I see there are at least 4 or 5 in CA?
I flew to vegas rented a cargo van and picked up the bike then went to the dmv and got nevada plates, used my california address as my mailing address for the title. then made a long drive back to san diego, chemical spill on the 15 freeway took 8 hours to get back to diego. glad thats over. taking her to the desert tomorrow, out to ochotillo wells ohv area. i am in love with this stupid bike, i cant wait to get her dusty. im an idiot and ran out of gas today, i tried switching it to reserve and it still wouldnt start, anyone else have this problem? as soon as i put gas in the tank it fired right up and ran fine so i dont know whats up with the reserve. i only got 89 miles on that tank of gas, i thought u could get at least 100.
To the best of ny knowledge, the only way to register the bike in CA would be to register as a used vehicle which requires 7500 miles on the bike. As for now, my bike is registered in AZ using a phoenix mailing address.
Not that I would circumvent the law just to own a motorcycle, but from what I understand about the law in Kalifornia you need to be able to show proof that your bike has at least 7000 miles and it was purchased from an individual - meaning that it is a used bike.
Now, I can buy a KLX250, do the mods (see Opening Up the KLX250S), put a Muzzy exhaust on the bike, ride it around a bit (just to get it a bit dirty), take my DeWalt drill and make the odometer show 7501 miles on it and then sell it to you. Let me know if you're interested!
Hey, someone's gonna do it, why not be that someone?

That is my plan exactly, with the exception of buying the bike (that I have already done)... My only problem is that my drill will only go 40mph, it will take quite some time to get to 7500 this way.
