Default Bolt on mods

I just bought an 09 klx250s with a 4 year factory warranty. What all can I do that wont void the warranty? I was hoping that theres a bolt on exhaust that doesn't require rejeting.

I wanted to find out for sure before I answered. So I called the dealer where I bought the klx250s.

The sales person there said that no it doesn't void the warranty if you have a reputeable shop/mechanic install the pipe and jet kit (He said that they don't even have to be the one that installs it).

You should call your dealer and ask if they can install the pipe & jet kit for you so the warranty is upheld,

You are going to want a jet kit installed if your going to do a pipe. Read up on this.

Cool thanks for the info guys. My dad and I bought a klx250 and a xt250 to ride on the dirt and the street. We got the xt250 because my dad was too short to ride the klx. Both of these bikes have to be choked so much to get them to start i was hoping to change this with some mods.

Just do the mods - who cares? If it comes down to warranty issues - take an hour and put the bike back to stock.

Literally - it would take 20 mins to swap the exhaust - if that.

30-45 mins to swap a jet.

Stop worrying!

I am pretty sure that the warranty will still be in place, even with the mods, unless they can PROVE that the mods caused the failure. I know that's the way it is with most cars, anyway. Dealers like to scare people into paying them to do the work by telling them this lie. I could be wrong, though.

What do you do about the FS tamper cap cover? I thought about the same thing too in regards to voiding my warranty. I know for a fact dealers will try to find some way out of paying.

My friend had a Honda 300 ATV that the camshaft lobes burnt up and it made a horrible sound. It sat in the shop for 3 months while they tried investigating why. They tried blaming him for changing oil (they needed $1600 to repair it), but they changed on initial breakin. So he called BBB, found out that they ordered a dip stick (they scewed the original one up some how) and left it sit out side with no cover. Water and oil not a good combo. They took there sweet ol time fixing that son of a gun. I don't ever want that to happen to me.

Moral of the story, be careful what you modify if you're concern about warrantys. I myself am itching to modify my bike when I resolve my PINGing issue first.
