Don't you guys in the US get BP Ultimate 98 Octane?

We have it here in NZ and the KLX just loves it - BIG difference in acceleration through the gears AND from pulling out of low revs in higher gears. BTW my KLX manual says use minimum 91 octane so why would anyone be putting 87 in anyway???????? Or do US spec KLX's have a min 87 octane rating?

I didn't notice much difference when I went from using 91 to using Shell V Power 95 but when I started using BP Ultimate 98 it was SO noticeably better in performance.

+1 on the BP Ultimate. The Subaru loves it so does the KLX. 98 all the way.

I don't notice much difference between 87 and 93, though I do run it from time to time. Colder ambient temps make a much bigger differece to me, maybe because I'm running a bit rich.

So you got almost 27 hp out of it with the stock carb/jetting and stock pipe, huh? I bet with just a rejet you'd get almost 30.

Most gas stations around me don't carry anything above 91. Either I would have to go to the marine or airport to get fuel above 93. 91 octane does my KLX just fine. Smoother power transtition, less pinging on the low end.

There is no heating problems. My bike runs better on low octane gas than high grade.

Yup, most people do not know that the highe r the octane the less btu's you get per gallon......higher octane retards detonation, if you do not need it you are not only wasting money, but power too.

That was a stock 'head' pipe with a Supertrapp muffler.
