Default Bill's 351cc kit installed!!

Bill and I installed my 351 kit yesterday. This morning is good...I've got a new 350 KLX waiting in the garage, ready for some heat cycles, and some rides during the break-in period. Here are a few pics of the install, and the kit by itself.
I'm looking at 20F today...don't care!!

My bike will be "test" engine #3. We are going to be running the stock carb, and the stock pipe. I have done all the common "free" mods, including the KDX200 snorkle and backfire screen removed. Once we get the jetting nailed, that info will be available also.

She started right up, so we're really going to have some fun now!

Good job man, I'm sure its gonna be a huge difference in power- please keep us updated here because im thinking of purchasing myself a kit! Are the instructions easy to follow? I've only done piston work on 2 strokes and thats cake, but never on 4 strokes. Do you need to remove the cam/valves?

Yes, the cams come out, and obviously the cylinder head comes off, but the cam chain does not come out of the cases, which requires slipping the chain off the cam sprockets. You don't mess with the valves or valve springs. You don't have to remove the radiators, but will of course drain all the coolant out. It takes about 2-3 hours if you're familiar with doing this type of work.

Sorry to change the subject...but it puzzles me why people ask this question. The KlX is a 2 (well 1.9) gallon tank. Pay the extra $0.40-0.60 cents per tank full for 93 octane!!!

I got mine in the mail yesterday! I guess my engine is test #4....can't wait to put it in this weekend. I will also be installing a set of Nassert racing cams and a TM33/34 pumper at the same time. From stock 17hp up to almost 30 in one day.....woohooo!

Edit;

25Jan09

I've put the first 17 miles on the new engine, after a couple of "garage" heating cycles.

Great news! this kit will work fine with the stock carb and stock pipe. (My bike does have the full list of "free mods" that most owners do.)
The engine now revs so quick to 4~5K (my rev limit until 100 miles) it's phenomenal. Just outstanding pulling power. This kit is going to be a lot of fun.

here's the dyno run
